Paleomeander 5

This painting has been living very happily for about a year at The Claw Foot Tub in Amherst, MA.  The shop, which offers original interior design services by Mary Moore Cathcart, along with a small hand-picked selection of fairly traded products, is a place you should visit if you are in the area.

I am adding new pieces to the series from which this painting comes.  Each finished piece naturally becomes a point of departure for whatever comes next.  Though many of the painting techniques I am using are the same, the materials never behave exactly the same way. The interactions of oil and acryllic paints, pencil, thread, and wire always yield surprises.

I am always excited to see what emerges next, and am challenged to know when to just leave something alone, to live with it for a while (sometimes a very long while) before moving forward.
