This small painting is made in many very thin layers of oil paint, with the goal of creating the transparency usually associated with water color paint. It is made on prepared watercolor paper. This painting was widely exhibited from 2014 to 2016 and was SOLD in 2017.
Paintings on 16" x 16" wood panels, made with metallic and oil paints. Float framed. Available through my studio. Please contact me for current prices.
The series envisions imaginary landscapes with the history of evolving river systems made visible on the land surface. The pieces are built in many layers and are dependent on the ways that the successive layers of paint and other materials interact-- quite akin to how such landscapes would be formed in the natural world.
Second in the series, exploring the traces left on landforms by river systems. Oil and metallic paints, pencil and both cotton amd metallic thread. 30" x 40", on linen.
First from the series of mixed media paintings exploring the action of water and its record on the land. This one is oil on linen and is 30" x 40". Composed of many layers of oil and metallic paints, metallic and cotton thread, pencil.
Another in the series where paint and assorted materials are used together to simulate geomorphic processes. This one is made with oils of varying degrees of thickness, pencil marks, cotton thread, and deep scoring of the surface with a stylus.

Though many of the painting techniques I am using are the same, the materials never behave exactly the same way. The interactions of oil and acrylic paints, pencil, thread, and wire always yield surprises.
